Are you an aspiring author? Then enter the Library's eighth annual Scary Story Contest.

The contest is open to ages K-adult. These are the guidelines:
  • Entries are due October 9, 2009 by 5 p.m. at the Circulation desk of the library.
  • Entry categories: K-2 grade, 3-4 grade, 5-6 grade 7-8 grade, 9-12 grade, adults.
  • Entries can be no longer than 1500 words.
  • Entries may be stories, poems, creative writing but all must be original. Young children may dictate their story to an adult who writes it down.
  • Entries should be typed if possible. If handwritten, writing should be legible. Name, address, phone and grade in school (if applicable) should be on the entry.
  • Prizes will be awarded in each category.
Winners will be announced and their stories read on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. in a special haunted happening story-telling evening in the Cooper Room Crypt. Scary Dress encouraged and scary food served!
